Business Strategy Books Cont’d: Guest Post by Accuquote’s Sean Cheyney

1 May 2009 | Media | Comments

Yesterday, I replied to a post by Brian Reich about whether or not there are any good business strategy books out there (you can follow this on the Twitter hashtag #bizstratbooks), and asked a number of individuals to respond. One of them is Sean Cheyney, Accuquote’s VP of Marketing and Business Development.

Here’s what Sean had to say via email this morning, and I hope that in a future email he teases out why the books he mentions are his favorites, what makes a great business strategy book, and what fails to meet the mark:

As an avid reader, business books have played a huge role in my career. I tend to pivot between wide varieties of topics, such as: copywriting, strategy, leadership, management, entrepreneurship, and marketing.

Some of my favorites include:

- From Worst to First by Gordon Bethune

- The Go Getter by Peter Kyne

- Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman

- Moneyball by Michael Lewis

- Fun is Good by Mike Veeck

- Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

- The Irresistible Offer and Simpleology by Mark Joyner

- Execution by Bossidy and Charan

- Lead to Succeed by Rick Pitino

- The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz

- The Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge

- Blue Ocean Strategy by Kim and Mauborgne

- The Pixar Touch by David Price

- Jack: Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch

More to come on this!
